Services/Gutters, fascias and soffits/
Cleared, resealed, and made to empty again.
Most overflowing gutters do not need replacing. They need the moss out, the joints resealing and the brackets resetting so the run falls towards the outlet instead of away from it.
No call-out charge, and the phone is answered 24 hours.

Gutter repairs.
Four things make a gutter overflow, and from the pavement they all look identical. It is blocked. A joint has perished and is dripping. A bracket has let go and the run has lost its fall or developed a dip. Or there is simply more water arriving than the outlet can take, usually because the downpipe is blocked rather than the gutter.
So we clear the whole run, flush it through with water and watch where it actually goes. That is the part that gets skipped by anyone quoting off a photograph: a gutter can look perfectly clean and still hold two inches of standing water in the middle of a run because a bracket gave up three winters ago.
Resealing a joint is a few minutes' work once you are up there. Resetting a bracket is not much more. Both are worth doing before the water going down the wall turns the fascia soft, because at that point it stops being a gutter job and starts being a joinery one.
What we put right
- The whole run cleared of moss, leaves and grit
- Flushed through with water and watched to see where it goes
- Downpipes rodded and cleared, including the shoe at the bottom
- Perished joints and union seals renewed
- Split and cracked sections replaced to match
- Loose and missing brackets replaced, fall reset
- Cast iron joints raked out and re-bedded where appropriate
- Debris taken away rather than left in the border

Worth knowing.
- Repair or replace
- If the plastic has gone chalky and brittle, sealing one joint just moves the leak along to the next. We will tell you honestly which yours is.
- It is often the downpipe
- A gutter overflowing at one end usually has a blocked outlet or pipe rather than a blocked gutter. Rodding it is the cheapest call-out we do.
- Trees
- Under sycamore or ash, once a year will not be enough. Twice, late autumn and late spring, keeps it clear.
- While we are up there
- We will look at the slates and the flashings at the same time and tell you if anything else needs attention. No charge for looking.

The rest of gutters, fascias and soffits.
These sit alongside this one under gutters, fascias and soffits. If yours turns out to be one of those instead, the price is worked out the same way.
The other things we do.
Most jobs turn out to be more than one of these at once. If you're not sure which you need, describe what you can see and we'll work it out.
Slating and tiling
Nearly every pitched roof on this coast is slate. Stripping them, re-covering them, matching them to the terrace next door and putting stone back on the ones that had it.
Flat roofs
Fibreglass, EPDM rubber and torch-on felt for extensions, dormers, garages and porches. Laid to falls so water actually leaves the roof.
Repairs and leaks
Slipped slates, cracked tiles, failed valleys, damp patches on the ceiling. We find where the water is getting in before we quote for anything bigger.
Chimneys and leadwork
Repointing, flaunching, chimney removal and rebuilds, plus lead flashings, valleys and soakers cut and dressed on site.
Gutters, fascias and soffits
The cheapest part of the house to look after and the one most often left. Clearing, repairing and replacing gutters, downpipes, fascias and soffits.
Storm damage
Emergency call-outs, tarpaulins and temporary covers when the weather comes in off the Irish Sea. We work with insurers and can supply photos and reports.
