Storm damage.
This coast gets weather with very little warning, and a roof that has been opened up overnight cannot wait until Monday. Someone answers the phone whatever the hour. If water is coming in right now, ring — do not fill anything in.
The first job is making it watertight and safe: a tarpaulin over the hole, a temporary cover across whatever has gone, and anything left hanging taken down before it comes down on its own. The permanent repair is priced afterwards, in daylight, when we can see the whole roof.
We deal with insurers regularly. A claim needs photographs of the damage, a written description of what caused it, and an itemised quote — you get all three from us without having to ask.
What happens when you ring
- Someone answers, at any hour, seven days a week
- We come out and make the roof safe
- Loose slates, ridge and flashing taken down before they fall
- Tarpaulin or temporary cover over the opening
- Photographs taken of the damage as we found it
- Written description of the cause for your insurer
- Itemised quote for the permanent repair
- The permanent repair done as soon as the weather allows

Describe what you can see from the ground and we'll tell you what it is likely to be. Coming out to look costs nothing.
What the work looks like.

Worth knowing.
- Ring, do not type
- The form is fine for a quote next week. If it is coming in tonight, the phone is the only thing that helps.
- Insurance claims
- Most policies cover storm damage. We word the quote the way an assessor expects to read it, which saves a round of questions.
- Making safe first
- Getting us out to cover the roof does not commit you to using us for the repair.
- Take your own pictures too
- Anything you can safely photograph from the ground before we arrive helps the claim. Do not go up a ladder in a gale to get it.

The rest of repairs and leaks.
These sit alongside this one under repairs and leaks. If yours turns out to be one of those instead, the price is worked out the same way.
The other things we do.
Most jobs turn out to be more than one of these at once. If you're not sure which you need, describe what you can see and we'll work it out.
Slating and tiling
Nearly every pitched roof on this coast is slate. Stripping them, re-covering them, matching them to the terrace next door and putting stone back on the ones that had it.
Flat roofs
Fibreglass, EPDM rubber and torch-on felt for extensions, dormers, garages and porches. Laid to falls so water actually leaves the roof.
Repairs and leaks
Slipped slates, cracked tiles, failed valleys, damp patches on the ceiling. We find where the water is getting in before we quote for anything bigger.
Chimneys and leadwork
Repointing, flaunching, chimney removal and rebuilds, plus lead flashings, valleys and soakers cut and dressed on site.
Gutters, fascias and soffits
The cheapest part of the house to look after and the one most often left. Clearing, repairing and replacing gutters, downpipes, fascias and soffits.
