Riverside Roofing NW

Services/

Sheet roofs, and the units they sit on.

Workshops, farm buildings, small industrial units and the odd village hall. Profiled sheeting, single ply, valley gutters and cut-edge corrosion — the work that keeps a working building working.

No call-out charge, and the phone is answered 24 hours.

01/

Commercial and industrial roofing.

A commercial roof fails differently from a house roof. It rarely lets go all at once. What happens instead is that the cut edges of the sheets rust back from the laps, the fixing washers perish and start to weep, the GRP rooflight sheets go brittle and yellow, and the valley gutter silts up and overflows inside the building rather than outside it. All slow, all cheap to catch early, all expensive once the purlins are going.

Most of what we do on units this size is therefore repair and refurbishment rather than replacement: cut-edge treatment, fixings and washers renewed, rooflight sheets swapped, valley gutters cleared and lined with a proper system rather than a bucket of bitumen. A lined gutter costs a fraction of a new roof and buys twenty years.

Where the sheeting genuinely has gone, we oversheet or strip and replace. And we plan it round you — most of these buildings have somebody working underneath, so the sequence, the weather cover and often the hours are set by what the business needs rather than by what suits us.

What we cover

  • Profiled steel and fibre cement sheet repair and replacement
  • Cut-edge corrosion cleaned back and treated
  • Perished fixings and washers renewed across a roof
  • Brittle and yellowed GRP rooflight sheets replaced
  • Valley and box gutters cleared, repaired and lined
  • Single ply and built-up felt on flat commercial roofs
  • Oversheeting where the existing roof is sound enough to stay
  • Condition surveys with photographs, for budgeting or a lease

What the work looks like.

Our own photographs, taken on our own roofs — not a stock library.

Worth knowing.

Asbestos
Plenty of older units are roofed in asbestos cement. We do not disturb it. If that is what you have, it needs a licensed contractor and we will say so rather than work around it.
Line the gutter first
On most leaking units the valley gutter is the problem, not the sheeting. Lining it is the cheapest useful thing you can do to the building.
Working over a live unit
We sequence the work so the inside stays dry and usable, and we will work evenings or weekends where that is what it takes.
What size we take on
Workshops, farm buildings, small industrial units and community buildings. We are a family firm, not a national contractor, and we would rather tell you a job is too big than make a mess of it.
